Lessons

The primary focus of Blackberry Stables Riding School is to develop, within the rider, an enjoyment for horse riding in a safe environment. We specialise in small group lessons and one-to-one private lessons. Lessons are available on a private basis or you can join one of our group lessons.  Pony camps and adult camps are held on a regular bases.
Lessons take many forms:
• Flatwork and jumping in our new all weather arena
• Cross country lessons over our cross country course
• Hacks to the nearby woods where you can jump a ditch or ride over some natural jumps.

Group riding lessons
Group Lessons

 

We specialise in small group lessons in order to be able to tend to different riders needs. Small and beautiful. A maximum of six riders per lesson guarantees rider centered instruction. We have a wonderful 40 X 50m floodlit All Weather Arena for our lessons. We group our lessons according to different riding abilities therefore helping the rider get the most out of their lessons.

 

Groups Lessons consist of many elements:

  • Flatwork

  • Cross country

  • Hacks

  • Showjumping

  

Private riding Lessons
Private Lessons


We usually recommend starting your Blackberry Stables journey with a Private Lesson. The reasons for this being; firstly, to familiarise the rider with our yard and horses. Secondly, to assess the riders ability in order to be able to reccommend a suitable group class for them to join, should they wish. Private lessons can be taylored to your bespoke needs in different disciplines:

  • Dressage

  • Showjumping

  • Cross Country

One to ones are held with our most experienced instructor Vincent Dempsey, who could lead you to the olympics and back as he has already been there and done that!

Aire Approved and Exam certificates
A.I.R.E Amateur Tests
 

Blackberry Stables - offers Amateur A.I.R.E Tests and awards AIRE certificates. These are competency based exams and consist of 4 ‘Foundation’ levels, ABCD, progressing to level 1 and finishing with level 6. Candidates will be examined at their usual Riding Centre by an AIRE  approved Instructor.

Minimum Age The minimum age at which a candidate may attempt a test is 6 years. These tests are not exclusive to children adults may also take these exams.

All levels are divided into:

  • Equitation and Stable Management

  • Jumping section (optional from Level 1 onwards)
